Kyle Outlaw is a designer, entrepreneur, and investor. An early adopter of blockchain technologies, he founded Subatomik, an independent online bookstore founded in 2023 that caters to the interests of geeks, nerds, mystics, counter-culturalists, and cypherpunks. Our mission is to expand minds and support the survival of indie bookstores in a digital world. Subatomik blends analog book culture with digital, decentralized technology, serving a global audience of tech-savvy and countercultural readers.
Prior to launching Subatomik, Kyle was SVP Executive Experience Director at Publicis Groupe, where he was responsible for user experience design and research for the Mercedes-Benz account in the United States and Canada. During this time he lead the redesign of the US and Canada passenger car websites, as well as new designs for Sprinter Vans and Freightliner, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, smart car, and in-dealership experiences. As a result of the website redesign, Mercedes-Benz was awarded a number one ranking from JD Power’s U.S. Manufacturer Website Evaluation Study.
Before focusing full time on the Mercedes account, he was VP Creative Group Director at Razorfish where he lead the UX practice for the New York office. During this time he pitched, won and launched innovative ecommerce experiences for Motorola and UNIQLO. Prior to that, Kyle was an interaction design director at R/GA where he worked on the Nike and and Converse accounts.
Kyle has been a speaker and conducted workshops at several key industry events around the world. These include: SXSW Interactive in Austin, Texas, IXDA in Helsinki, Finland, the User Experience Professionals Association and MediaPost's OMMA conference in New York, and the Internet Freedom Festival in Valencia, Spain.
Kyle received his Master's Degree from NYU's Interactive Telecommunication Program, where he focused on mobile interaction design, virtual reality, and media theory.
